In driving the Ministry of Transport's agenda to deepen operational synergy across its agencies, the Deputy Minister of Transport, hon. Dorcas Affo-Toffey paid a working vsist to the Ghana Maritime Authority (GMA) and the Ghana Shippers Authority (GSA), with the clear objective of gaining a comprehensive, on-the-ground understanding of their respective mandates, strategic initiatives, and key operational hurdles.
In her brief remarks, Hon. Affo-Toffey, has commended the Ghana Maritime Authority (GMA) for its ongoing "reset" agenda, highlighting the successful initiatives implemented since the current leadership took office.
She emphasized the maritime sector's pivotal role in Ghana's socioeconomic development, noting that the Authority's significant progress in such a short time, despite facing limited funding, is particularly commendable.
The Minister stressed that continued diligence and the implementation of international best practices are non-negotiable for the GMA to effectively safeguard Ghana's coast and ensure seamless shipping operations.
At the GSA, the Deputy Minister commended the Authority for its strong advocacy and encouraged the Authority to scale up its efforts to empower local shippers, which will directly enhance the competitiveness of Ghana's exports and imports on the global stage.
