The Deputy Minister for Transport, Hon. Dorcas Affo-Toffey, has undertaken a familiarisation visit to the Regional Maritime University (RMU), Tema Shipyard, and the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA).
The primary objective of the tour was to give the Deputy Minister a firsthand understanding of the operations and challenges faced by these key agencies, all of which fall under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Transport.
At the university, Hon. Affo-Toffey inspected ongoing projects and some practical work sites where students were undertaking projects, with discussions focusing on the university’s capacity to train maritime professionals for Ghana and the wider sub-region.
During her visit to the Tema Shipyard and Drydock, the Deputy Minister assessed its drydock facilities and maintenance operations. The tour highlighted the shipyard’s role in vessel repair and its potential for enhancing local content in the maritime sector.
Hon. Affo-Toffey was warmly received by the management of the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority, where she was taken through the structure, mandate, and operations of the Authority.
