KOTA ODYSSEY UNVEILED TO BOOST GHANA'S MARITIME TRADE AND SUSTAINABILITY

The Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang was joined by the Minister of Transport, Joseph Bukari Nikpe, to officially unveil the new vessel, the Kota Odyssey in Tema.

The Vice President who served as the Lady Sponsor for the vessel, celebrated its arrival as a significant milestone for regional trade.

She noted that the state-of-the-art ship strengthens Ghana's trade links with Asia and across West Africa emphasizing that the vessel's use of cleaner fuel and advanced technology aligns with Ghana's commitment to sustainability.

In a brief remark Hon. Nikpe highlighted the expansion of maritime services as a key component of the government's "24-hour economy" initiative, which is designed to boost youth employment.

"Maritime services are central to our 24-hour economy vision, enabling a three-shift system that creates more jobs for our young people," he said. "We are committed to providing world-class facilities and services to meet the needs of international shipping lines."

The Vessel will operate on Pacific International Lines (PIL) South West  Africa  Service (SWS), connecting China, Singapore, Ghana, Togo, Nigeria, Cote d’ Ivoire through a direct weekly service.
