A high-level delegation from Burkina Faso, led by the Minister for Transport, Urban Mobility, and Road Safety, Mr Souleymane Soulama, held a constructive meeting today with the Minister for Transport, Hon. Joseph Bukari Nikpe.
The primary focus of the discussion was the development of a new railway line to connect Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, and Tema, Ghana.
This proposed rail link, which could further be extended to serve neighbouring landlocked countries such as Mali and Niger, is expected to significantly improve passenger and freight transport, enhancing the logistics chain and accelerating economic development between the two nations.
The project aligns with the broader ECOWAS policy and Ghana railway master plan, both emphasising the critical need for rail connectivity among member states to facilitate trade and improve the standard of living for their citizens.
