SELECT COMMITTEE TALKS TRANSPORT WITH HON. NIKPE

The Parliamentary Select Committee on Roads and Transportation today undertook a familiarization visit to the Ministry of Transport, marking a significant step towards fostering closer collaboration between the legislative and executive branches on critical infrastructure development.

The delegation, led by its chairperson Hon. Isaac Adjei Mensah who is also the Member of Parliament for Wassa East engaged in a series of discussions with the Minister of Transport, Hon. Joseph Bukari Nikpe, and key officials of the Ministry.

The visit aimed to provide the Committee members with a comprehensive understanding of the Ministry's operations, ongoing projects, challenges, and future plans within the sector.

During the meeting, key issues on Aviation, Roads, Maritime and Inland as well as Railway transport were discussed. The sector Minister spoke, among other things on strategies for addressing traffic congestion. He also provided detailed briefings on the government's commitment to developing a robust and efficient transportation network across the country.

Members of the Select Committee actively engaged in the discussions, raising pertinent questions and offering valuable insights based on their oversight responsibilities and constituency experiences.

The familiarization visit underscores the commitment of both the Parliament and the Ministry of Transport to work in tandem towards the development of a modern and sustainable transport sector.

This visit to the Ministry marks the first phase of the Committee's familiarization, with subsequent visits planned to various agencies under the Ministry's purview to gain a deeper understanding of their individual contributions to the sector.
