The Ministry of Transport and the National Road Safety Authority have organized a Road Safety Sensitization activity at some of the main transport stations in Accra.

This was done to educate commercial drivers and remind them of the need to drive safely and not to overspeed during this festive season.

Members of the team reminded drivers of the need not to overspeed during the season because they may want to make more money. But they should rather be concerned about the importance of always arriving safely at their destinations, anytime they move their vehicles. They also encouraged drivers to rest after trips to avoid tiredness and dozing off on their next trips.

They urged drivers to avoid drunk driving since it was also a contributing factor to road crashes which lead to injuries and death.

On their part, some of the drivers and even the passengers members of the team spoke to, were appreciative of the fact that the team had taken time off to visit the stations to remind them of the need to drive safely to avoid road crashes.

Some of the stations visited were the Neoplan station, VIP station and the OA Travel and Tours station.
