Transport Minister Kwaku Asiamah has underscored skills development of the youths as key in the country’s growth agenda.

He said with transport as a tool for poverty reduction, Ghana may need assistance in revamping “our training centres in the automobile industry, road safety and security on the Volta Lake.”

The Minister made these known when the Japanese, Danish and Turkish ambassadors variously paid courtesy visits on him in Accra.

“We may need your assistance in establishing some assembling plants for the automobile and ferry industries for your West African market. Ghana can be a good partner for this cooperation. The ambassadors in their separate visits congratulated Mr. Kwaku Asiamah on his appointment as the Minister for Transport.

The visits were a gesture to renew their bilateral relations with Ghana and also explore the new policy direction of the Transport Ministry having detached the aviation and railway from it under the new administration, a move the Hon. Asiamah thinks would enhance sharp focus and reliable sense of modal efficiency.
