The Minister of Transport, Hon. Kwaku Ofori Asiamah has reiterated government's committed to improving the road transport sub-sector of the economy in order to enhance service delivery in all parts of the country.

He was speaking at the inauguration of the Western Regional Office of the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority ( DVLA) and the launch of the " Arrive Alive" campaign by the National Road Safety Authority ( NRSA) in Takoradi on Thursday, October 1, 2020.

Hon. Ofori Asiamah stated that DVLA exists to ensure all vehicles that ply the roads are roadworthy and drivers have obtained the necessary qualification to move them.

 He indicated that the era of "Goro boys" and unnecessary delay at the DVLA offices is over as Ghanaians can now access services within short periods.

On the " Arrive Alive" campaign,  the Minister stressed that a lot of road traffic accidents leading to unnecessary loss of lives and properties were avoidable and that NRSA is putting in a lot of effort to ensure that road traffic accidents are reduced drastically.

The Head of the NRCA, Ing. May Obiri Yeboah emphasized the need for road users to observe and ensure compliance with the road traffic regulations in the country and urged drivers to drive within the required speed limit as Christmas approaches.
