The Minister for Transport, Hon. Joseph Bukari Nikpe, addressed newly appointed envoys at their orientation programme, outlining the government's vision for Ghana's transport sector and urging them to attract foreign investment.

In his remarks, he appealed to the diplomats to champion the establishment of a new national carrier, Ghana International Airline, through a public-private partnership (PPP).

He emphasised that this partnership model is a deliberate strategy to ensure the long-term viability of the airline, leveraging private sector expertise and investment to build a sustainable and profitable entity while avoiding the challenges faced by past national carriers.

The Minister highlighted the strategic importance of a national airline for Ghana's economic growth and its role in positioning the country as a transport hub within Africa.

In addition to the airline, Hon. Nikpe provided an overview of developments in the rail and road sectors. He discussed ongoing efforts to revitalise Ghana's railway network, with a focus on expanding and modernising key lines to improve both freight and passenger transport.
