The Deputy Minister for Transport, Hon. Dorcas Affo-Toffey has commended the Charted Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) for its commitment to upholding standards, building capacity, and policy advocacy.
Speaking at the launch of the Institutions 60th anniversary celebration in Accra, she reaffirmed government’s commitment to implementing the fourteen strategic action points discussed during a recent meeting with the Ministry of Transport, CILT and some Chief Executive officers.
According to her, those strategies aligned with Ghana’s transport modernization agenda.
“Together, we shall champion innovation, modernise our transport and logistics infrastructure, and ensure that Ghana remains a formidable force on the global stage,” he said.
Launching the anniversary, the Chief of Staff, Mr. Julius Debrah lauded CILT Ghana’s role in shaping Ghana’s economy over the past 60 years and described the Institute as an indispensable partner in reducing business costs, enhancing trade facilitation, and building the infrastructure that sustains national growth.
Mr. Debrah also linked the Institute’s expertise to the government’s vision 24 hour economy noting that the institutions professionals would be central to designing systems that ensure seamless movement of goods and services across borders.
“Simply put, without CILT, the 24-hour economy cannot become a reality,” the Chief of Staff said, urging the Institute to embrace digitalization, automation, and sustainable practices to remain relevant in the evolving global landscape.
He challenged CILT Ghana to build capacity, adopt smart technologies, and partner with the government to modernise the country’s supply chain infrastructure.
The anniversary launch set the stage for a series of activities to celebrate the Institute’s milestone while positioning it as a key player in Ghana’s economic transformation.
