DVLA CUTS SOD FOR NEW ULTRAMODERN OFFICE SPACE IN DUNKWA-ON-OFFIN

A Deputy Minister for Transport, Hon. Hassan Tampuli has cut sod for the construction of an ultramodern office facility for the Dunkwa-On-Offin Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) calling on the Management and staff to keep improving their services for the benefit of their customers.

Speaking at the event, the Deputy Minister emphasized the importance of the new office, which will replace the existing one notorious for its cramped conditions within a cocoa shed, shared with other organizations. “This new facility is a testament to DVLA's dedication to providing excellent services while ensuring accessibility to the general public”, he noted.

Hon. Tampuli acknowledged DVLA's recent efforts in expanding its operational offices, opening six new offices, and refurbishing several others in response to its increasing customer base. The construction of the new office in Dunkwa-On-Offin was a crucial step in bringing DVLA's services closer to the people, reducing travel time for customers, and fostering a sense of community engagement.

He stated that DVLA's progress in service delivery was, with a focus on its digital transformation drive. The institution, he said, had significantly reduced long queues and waiting times by embracing technology, ensuring improved turnaround time and enhanced customer service experiences. The DVLA had also embarked on the registration of electronic vehicles, aligning itself with the advancements in the transportation industry.

He added that the DVLA had collaborated with Ghana Post to provide license delivery services, allowing customers to apply for licenses to be conveniently delivered to their doorsteps. He urged the public to take advantage of these digital services of the institution and discouraged people from dealing with intermediaries called goro boys, for license applications or vehicle registrations.

The DVLA, he mentioned, had plans to extend vehicle registration services to Dunkwa through the improved version of its Vehicle Registration System (VRS) and encouraged the Board, Management, and Staff to continue their exemplary work, positioning DVLA as a centre of excellence for other organizations to emulate.

“As the construction of the new DVLA office progresses, it symbolizes not just a physical structure but a commitment to enhanced services, improved accessibility, and a brighter future for the Dunkwa-On-Offin community and beyond’, he added.

Hon. Hassan Tampuli called on the contractors and consultants to ensure the swift and high-quality completion of the new office complex within the stipulated time frame.

The event, which was attended by Chiefs, opinion leaders of the town and the general public, highlighted the DVLA's commitment to enhancing its services and accessibility for the growing number of customers.
